Delete your Wordaboo account

Wordaboo, by Needed Labs · Last updated 18 August 2026

This page explains how to request deletion of your Wordaboo account and everything stored with it. Wordaboo is published by Needed Labs. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.

How to delete your account, in the app

This is the quickest way and it needs nothing from us:

  1. Open Wordaboo and go to Account.
  2. Tap Delete my account.
  3. Type the confirmation word it asks for.

Your shared Friends card is removed immediately, so other users can no longer find you. Everything else — your account, your progress, your streak and your username — is held for 14 days and then deleted permanently. We email you to confirm, and we email you again once the deletion is complete.

Changed your mind? Sign in again within those 14 days and the deletion is cancelled automatically. Everything comes back exactly as it was, including your username, which is why we hold it rather than releasing it straight away.

After 14 days nothing can be recovered.

If you cannot use the app

  1. Email wordaboo@gmail.com
  2. Send it from the address you signed in to Wordaboo with. This is how the request is verified, so a message from a different address cannot be actioned.
  3. Put “Delete my account” in the subject line.
  4. You will get a confirmation reply. Your account and data are then deleted within 30 days, and you will be told when it is done.

If you only want to remove Wordaboo from one device, uninstalling the app deletes the copy of your progress stored on that device immediately. That does not delete your account.

What is deleted, and what is kept

DataWhat happensRetention
Account identity — your name, email address and account identifier (from Google, Apple, or an email sign-up) Deleted permanently Removed 14 days after you delete in the app, or within 30 days if you ask by email. Nothing is kept afterwards.
Learning progress — course, lessons completed, XP, streak, daily goal, words answered incorrectly Deleted permanently Removed within 30 days, including from backups.
Your shared card — the username, streak, XP and level other users could see, if you switched Friends on Deleted permanently, along with your friend code and your username. Your username is held for the 14-day grace period so that cancelling gives it back to you, and becomes free for somebody else to claim once the deletion is final. You can also delete it at any time without deleting your account, by turning Friends off in the app.
Survey answers — how you found Wordaboo and why you are learning, if you answered Deleted permanently Removed within 30 days. Totals already counted cannot be traced back to you and are not personal data.
The copy stored on your device Deleted by you, by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage Gone immediately; it is only ever sent to us once you are signed in.
Subscription and payment records Not ours to delete. Google Play handles all payments; Wordaboo never receives or stores payment details Held by Google under its own terms, which Google is required to keep for tax and accounting.
Advertising identifier Never stored by Wordaboo. Collected by Google AdMob while ads are shown Reset or delete it yourself in Settings → Google → Ads on your device.

Deleting your account does not cancel Wordaboo Premium. Cancel the subscription separately at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, or you will keep being billed.

If you never signed in

The first lesson can be completed without an account. If you stopped there and never signed in, no personal data was ever sent to us — your progress stayed on your device only, and uninstalling the app removes all of it. There is nothing to request in that case.
